2010 Is All About Nokia

December 18th, 2009 Simon No comments

Nokia 6700 SlideThe release of Nokia 6700 Slide and Nokia 7230 announced recently. Both mobile phones are scheduled to hit the market in 2010, sometime during the first quarter.  The phones are aimed at different retail audiences. The Nokia 6700 has more multimedia capabilities and is subsequently, more expensive (€160) because then the 7230. It is aimed at a more high-end market. The 7230, at only €100, is better suited for those who aren’t interested in parting with a ton of money for a mobile phone of any kind.  The 7230 is about €60 cheaper.

The Nokia 6700 has a 2.2 QVGA display screen, 16.7 million color display, a five megapixel camera, FM radio, music player and VGA video. Individuals are able take, edit photos and then upload them online.  It comes standard with the memory of 45 MB but up to 16GB can be added via a microSD card.

The Nokia 7230 isn’t as robust in terms of features as the 6700 is, thus the reduced price. It has a 267,000 color display, a 2.4 inch display screen and FM radio.  It also has messaging capabilities and a 3.2 megapixel camera.  Both phones are scheduled to be placed in retail stores somewhere during the first part of 2010.

Nokia 7230Neither of these phones is offering anything dramatically different from what is already being offered by many smartphones on the market.  Even still, mobile phone companies producing phones, charging more and more for them, hoping that people who enjoy technology or who simply get tired of their old phones, snap them up. Nokia is taking a different approach. They are coming out with new phones, with better features, but they are charging less for them. As a result, while they may not be offering anything new, they are certainly offering it cheaper and we look forward to some fantastic Nokia 6700 and 7230 deals.

Details about the new Samsung M2310 and M2710 have been leaked over the internet

December 17th, 2009 Simon No comments

Samsung M2310In this current day and age, with music being so popular, many phone companies have tried to incorporate music into their phone. Such examples can be seen such as with the I phone, the BeatDJ and many more. It was not long before Samsung wanted to lunch their own cheap and affordable music phone, which was able to handle many varying tasks at the same time. The M2310 and M2710 are the two new phones geared up for music, which even come with special buttons on the front designed to make it easier to use the special music functions within the phone. This allows you to play the tracks or the mixing side of things with the front buttons rather than the keypad which can be a real chore.

The Samsung M2710 is the sliding equivalence of the two, and looks fantastic. Featuring GPRS technology and blue tooth connectivity, you will always be able to keep in touch with friends and family via email, or transferring files to a friend or family member. Coming with a built in FM radio, you will never be bored again whilst on the go, as you can switch on some favorite tracks or radio shows to be entertained. The phone also comes with a fantastic tracking device, in case the phone gets stolen. This allows you to trace it to the very location that it is being used from.

The second phone, the Samsung M2310 is a flip phone compared to a slide, and features basically the same features as above, but just coming with the special music buttons on the front.

No information about the release date has been released yet, so if you want a great music phone, then hang on.

GreenHeart Spotlight: Sony Ericsson Hazel

December 16th, 2009 Simon No comments

Sony Ericsson Hazel 1Two more phones will be joining the lineup of Sony Ericsson’s GreenHeart series; the SE Elm and the SE Hazel. The two devices are slated for a 2010 release with the Elm arriving during the first quarter of 2010 and the Hazel has been confirmed for a second quarter launch.

The addition of these two devices to the GreenHeart series is very promising as it shows that Sony Ericsson is committed to the goals it has set for itself regarding their CO2 emissions reduction target. By creating mobile phones that are eco-friendly, they are helping the environment in many ways.

GreenHeart phones are impressive because they use at least 50 percent recycled plastics, this means that the amount of new plastic raw materials to be made for each device has been cut down by half. The manufacturing process and materials contain no harmful chemicals and the paint used in the phones is all water-borne. They also use the EP300 GreenHeart adapter which is a low-power consumption mini-USB charger. Packaging has also been minimized in order to reduce the use of paper products and the manual comes in digital format instead of printed paper (the e-manual is installed in the phones).

The two devices are pretty impressive 3G phones. The Sony Ericsson Elm is a candy bar phone with a 2.2 inch, 320 x 240 pixel screen with a capacity for displaying 256 thousand colors. It comes with a 5 mega pixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash. The internal memory is 280MB; this can be further expanded by using a micro SD card.

The Sony Ericsson Hazel on the other hand is a slider phone with pretty sleek form. It has a slightly larger 2.6 inch screen and can display up to 16 million colors. Like the Elm, the screen resolution is also 320 x 240 pixels. It also has similar specs in terms of the camera (5 mega pixel) and internal memory (also 280 MB).

Nexus One – Google’s First Phone to Appear Soon

December 15th, 2009 Simon No comments

Google Nexus OneGoogle has made history in telecommunications by introducing the Android operating system, and if that was not enough, they are prepared to step even further into the industry by introducing their very own mobile phone. Yes, Nexus One is what they are calling the new phone, and it is expected to be released in the early parts of the next year.

The news has been released by the Wall Street Journal, according to which Google will not be relying on any other phone carrier or operator for introducing the phone in the market, and will be managing the marketing of the phone themselves. Given the media impact of the internet giants, that is not really a surprise though. Nevertheless Google are entering previously unexplored terrain, and are preparing for it as well. As per the WSJ, Google have already introduced the phones to their employees.

The phone will be manufactured by the Taiwanese mobile phone manufacturers HTC, who themselves have launched a number of Android running handsets. But of course we are guessing that Google would have saved the best of the Android operating software for a phone under their own brand. It is being speculated to be the phone with the most customizable version of Android. The phone will not be offered with a network service and the users will have to arrange for a SIM card of the network of their choice.

Android is undoubtedly the hottest sensation among the mobile phone users and the market pundits alike and the news of the expected release of Nexus One is expected to be received enthusiastically as well. However, the road may not be all that smooth for Google, as it is posed a great threat from Apple’s iPhone and other Nokia smartphones, which are the most popular choices for smartphone users. Only time will tell how Google will come over the challenge.

AT&T Might Launch Motorola Motus in April or May Next Year

December 14th, 2009 Simon No comments

MOTOROLA MOTUSMotorola has been rumored to be preparing to launch a few handsets featuring the Android operating platform. Of these sets, you would have already learned about a few such as the Sholes Tablet and the Motorola Motus. Of these, we have learned a little more about the Motus, and the news on the internet says that the handset may hit the US markets under the auspices of AT&T sometime around April or May in 2010.

AT&T  is being expected to launch the Motorola Motus in the first batch of Android phones that the wireless carrier is planning to launch the next year. However, many are expecting, at least Engadget thinks so, that the AT&T release would be offering the handset with the same specifications and features, which have already been announced.

The Motorola Motus has also been called Backflip for quite a while, and this is because of its unique design which involves a keypad flipping backwards when the phone is opened, and moving back to the front again when it is closed. Apart from that, the phone can take another position in which it can stand upright, which makes it a very good choice for acting as an alarm clock or for displaying a video.

Of the specifications of the Motus appearing on Engadget, the 5.0 mega pixel camera, which would come mounted on the keypad, along with LED flash, backlit dome-shaped keys, about 0.75 inch thick, making it a touch bulky, are worth mentioning. But the really good news for Motorola phone fans is that the phone will come with the MotoBlur interface. Furthermore, the phone is also being rumored to be run on the Snapdragon processor, which cannot really be confirmed, but those who have taken a look at it report that its responsiveness is excellent. So far, so good. However while the Motorola Droid made its way into Europe as the Milestone, there is no news yet on whether Europe will see a version of the Motus.

December 11th, 2009 Simon No comments

Samsung S7070 and S5150Aimed mainly at the female fashion market, the Samsung Diva is designed to be a signature piece of equipment for all the Divas around the country. Just like you see the rich American women with dogs on their laps, Samsung want the Samsung Diva to be instantly recognizable and hopefully become a huge selling success within the female fashion market.

Diamond buttons, quilt covers, a 3.2 megapixel camera and many more physical features are some of the reasons that make the new stylish Samsung Diva such a popular discussion over the internet and in the fashion world. The phone also features new internal technology, which includes touching up your photos, a fake phone call, perfect for when you need to get out of awkward situations, as well as internet capabilities that have rarely been seen in mobile phones before.

The new phone is set to be launched in the UK in January 2010, also being released at the same time in the Netherlands, Russia and Ukraine, shortly followed by south-eastern Asia and China. Prices are still unknown to the general public, as negotiations are still in progress with various different phone networks. The phone is expected to be released on a Contract plan as well as a pay as you go plan, so either way you will be able to find a solution that suits you.

Samsung s vice president Mark Mitchins went on to say, “Today’s modern women play many roles, and Diva from the Samsung Collection is perfect due its stylish look and practical functionality. The Samsung Diva is part of Samsung’s long-term goal to meet the needs of one of our most important customers, female mobile users.”

Two handsets will initially be available in the new Samsung Diva range, and we are looking forward to some great deals for Samsung S7070 and Samsung S5150 on contract.

E72 and N97 Nokia Mini Now Available In the US Market!

December 7th, 2009 Simon No comments

Nokia E72The American market now has the wonderful opportunity to experience the class and beauty of the Nokia E72 and N97 Mini has the Finland based mobile phone manufacturers have released both phones for purchase. The N97 was the first to be introduced into the market just a few days ago. The mobile phone can be purchased online at the Nokia USA online store or at Dell and Amazon. The E72 on the other hand is now on sale and can be purchased at Nokia online store as we write and it is SIM free.

As the name suggest, the Nokia N97 mini is the smaller version of the popular high-end N97 and the form factor is not different from the previous one. Though there are some obvious differences when both are compared side by side, users can still get some good enough space with the addition of a 16GB memory card. The Touchscreen display and the QWERTY keyboard layout is also worthy of mention too.

Buying the N97 in the US cost $579.00 from the online store of Nokia. The price is however different when you make your purchase at either Amazon or Dell. You can get it at $479 which is $100 cheaper than what you pay at the Nokia Nokia N97 Mini 1online store. Christmas is very much around the corner and the Nokia N97 is a lovely phone to have when you go for your shopping.

The introduction of the Nokia E72 looks like a great replacement for the Nokia E71. The features are wonderful and Nokia seems to have leveraged on the hardware Specification. The 5-megapixel photo snapper is an upgrade from the 3.2 mp of the E72. You can find it when you visit the Nokia USA website and it goes for the sum of $469 which is lesser than the European version of the E72. As a matter of fact, it is about 80 Euros less in price.

Social Networking on mobile: Is it Necessary?

December 3rd, 2009 Simon No comments

Social NetworkingBack in the old days mobile phones were simply for texting and talking, however as the modern age progresses that simply is not enough. Leaving notes and answering machines are a thing of the past. Everything that you could possibly think of doing can all be done right on your phone.

The bad part about all this is that everyone seems to think they need to know what’s going on at every second of the day; however everyone else is more than eager to share their thoughts and feelings about every minute detail of their lives. Until just recently using a mobile phone with a social network was rather difficult to do. But as technology progresses so too does the ease in which social communities are used on the mobile phone.

Although many of these social sites may be deemed unnecessary, none the less people use the walls on the pages to post all their thoughts feelings and even pictures of themselves and their loved ones. The design of each individual page is a way for each person to show their own personality and style.

Full QWERTY keyboards and 3G connectivity have become more of a necessity rather than a simple luxury. As the functionality of the screens grows so too does the amount of things that you are able to do with them. For the most part phones have only been able to pull media from the social sites but more and more it is leaning to where it can also push more and more info back into the sites as well.

The Vodafone 360 is an internet service that brings together your phone, email, chat, and social networking contacts all together in one place. Vodafone made its debut in the Samsung 360 H1 and 360 M1 phones. The Vodafone I s made to operate separately from any particular mobile or manufacturer, it acts as a separate entity.
