February 8th, 2010 Simon No comments

Motorola BackflipMotorola Backflip is released on the market at a time when the clients are looking all over for a stylish and also functional handset. This handset is supposed to offer social integration along with the package. It must be observed that the new Motorola Backflip fits this description perfectly. It has 108 mm long and 53 mm wide and it is only 15 mm thick, making this device a comfortable piece for holding and for using. Caring only 133 g in weight the device makes itself in the category of relatively lightweight handsets.

The Motorola Backflip currently shows itself as being available in only one colour; platinum silver. It is operable by using the smaller form of the Android version operating system. The Android system is upgraded in the new model compared to the former Motorola Milestone. The variant that came along with Motorola Milestone was the Android 2.0. The new arrival of this model includes the features consisting in multiple social media applications like Facebook, Twitter, or My Space. Along with these come the integration of the applications offered by Photobucket and Picasa, those also included in the functional sphere of this device.

The 3.1 inch TFT is a good and effective mean to surf the internet and to view sites in general, its capacitive touchscreen presenting itself as an adequate feature. The display goes up to around 250,000 colours at a pixel size of 320 x 480 pixels, being offered effective colour representation. One of the main elements that outstand from the Backflip is the reverse flip-out QWERTY keyboard, wide enough to offer responsive and effective key entry. A standard property of the handset is the sensor contained in the backtrack panel, which allows the user to manipulate the cursor around the menus without touching the screen. Previously contained in the Motorola DEXT model, there are some widgets that have been kept and now are being displayed in this gadget such as the MOTOBLUR interface.

Web surfing becomes easily and facile when using the HSDPA connection, at a speed of 7 Mbps, whilst the Wi-Fi makes accessible the handling of local and national hotspots. Functioning on an A-GPS support, the GPS utility makes facile the satellite navigation along with Google Maps and street views so that locating certain places would not be as difficult as before. Class 12 had been uploaded by the use of the microSD which enhances the GPRS mood and the EDGE use as well.

The video capture is operable as up to 24 fps making the conferences seem as being in touch with reality. The camera is one of high quality having included as standard LED flash, auto focus and geo tagging. Furthermore it has to be considered that its quality is actually higher than expected which means up to 5.0 megapixels. Having fun should come easy due to the games included in this system along with the MP4/MP3 player. This mobile phone will certainly become a hit due to its simple and comprehensive accessibility and to the wide range of features contained.

AT&T Might Launch Motorola Motus in April or May Next Year

December 14th, 2009 Simon No comments

MOTOROLA MOTUSMotorola has been rumored to be preparing to launch a few handsets featuring the Android operating platform. Of these sets, you would have already learned about a few such as the Sholes Tablet and the Motorola Motus. Of these, we have learned a little more about the Motus, and the news on the internet says that the handset may hit the US markets under the auspices of AT&T sometime around April or May in 2010.

AT&T  is being expected to launch the Motorola Motus in the first batch of Android phones that the wireless carrier is planning to launch the next year. However, many are expecting, at least Engadget thinks so, that the AT&T release would be offering the handset with the same specifications and features, which have already been announced.

The Motorola Motus has also been called Backflip for quite a while, and this is because of its unique design which involves a keypad flipping backwards when the phone is opened, and moving back to the front again when it is closed. Apart from that, the phone can take another position in which it can stand upright, which makes it a very good choice for acting as an alarm clock or for displaying a video.

Of the specifications of the Motus appearing on Engadget, the 5.0 mega pixel camera, which would come mounted on the keypad, along with LED flash, backlit dome-shaped keys, about 0.75 inch thick, making it a touch bulky, are worth mentioning. But the really good news for Motorola phone fans is that the phone will come with the MotoBlur interface. Furthermore, the phone is also being rumored to be run on the Snapdragon processor, which cannot really be confirmed, but those who have taken a look at it report that its responsiveness is excellent. So far, so good. However while the Motorola Droid made its way into Europe as the Milestone, there is no news yet on whether Europe will see a version of the Motus.

Motorola Droid Launched as Milestone in Europe

December 1st, 2009 Simon No comments

Motorola MILESTONE 2After the success of its early RAZR and the ROKR models, it looks like Motorola has just created its most stunning piece of mobile phone wizardry inside and out with the Motorola DROID. With Google and Verizon behind it, Motorola has a sure winner in its portfolio.  Slated to be released in Europe by end of November as the Motorola Milestone, the Motorola Droid is poised to take on the best of what the competition has to offer and possibly reverse the failing fortunes of the one mighty Motorola.

    Upscale High Value Features

With Google and network giant Verizon behind it, the Motorola DROID can lay claim to a couple of World’s Firsts to its name.  It’s certainly the first to use the new Android 2.0 platform and with just 13.7mm thickness, it the arguably the world’s thinnest or at least one of the thinnest full QWERTY slider touchscreen in the market.

But that’s really nothing compared to the promise it holds both inside and out. With features that matches what the best flagship smartphones offer such as a stunning 3.7” capacitive touchscreen with WVGA resolution and accelerometer sensors, a 5 megapixel autofocusing camera with LED flash.

There’s geo tagging and video recording of DVD quality and 3G/UMTS and WiFi for high speed data connectivity as well as Bluetooth 2/1 with EDR and A2DP, there’s no doubt the Motorola Droid is out to challenge the best from Nokia, HTC, Samsung and can even pose a challenge to the iPhone.

More than its hardware features, Google made sure that its’ entire Google application muscle gets behind the Motorola Droid.  There’s Google Web search, Google Apps and Google Maps that is an equal to any GPR guidance system on mobile gadgets.  It is currently only available on the DROID though Motorola’s own MOTONAV takes its place for the European Milestone version. All that on top of the Google Android 2 platform.

    Verdict

This is a very capable QWERTY Slider handset that has all the promise to bring Motorola back into the limelight as well as the Android phone into the mainstream of mobile telephony. With an upscale feature set and a friendly SIM-free price, you have one appealing handset to include in your Christmas shopping list.

Android–based touchscreen slider hits the market – Motorola DEXT

September 30th, 2009 Simon No comments

Motorola phones have always had a special place in our hearts due to their awesome looks and awesome functionality and, in that sense, the Motorola DEXT lives up to our expectation. A touch screen slider with a full QWERTY keyboard, the Motorola DEXT comes pre-installed with Google Android 1.5 OS (Cupcake edition), which is a good enough reason to persuade you to purchase it. Combine that with Motorola’s very own user interface, the MOTOBLUR UI and you get one of the best combos in the market. The MOTOBLUR UI enables you to get easy access to functions and apps in the phone by way of widgets on the homescreen. You can assign a variety of features, from messages and RSS feeds to email and photos. You can also enable one-touch access to a variety of social networks such as MySpace and Facebook. There is also a really neat facility in the DEXT whereby you can have one single inbox for all your social network messaging needs, thereby avoiding the need to check each of your social network profiles for any unread messages.

The phone comes armed with a 5 megapixel camera which is efficient and able to shoot good pictures, largely due to the auto – focus feature. Geo – tagging of pictures is also possible. The phone’s screen is quite crisp at 3.1 inches and a resolution of 320×480 pixels.

The phone’s music player supports most of the popular music formats, including MP3 and AAC. The phone is about 15.6 mm slim and weighs 163 grams, which we feel is way too heavy! You might not want to try on tight jeans if you are going to buy this phone!

The Motorola DEXT Reviews have been nothing but full of praise, so be sure to get it when it is released in October. The phone will be on Orange UK on Motorola DEXT contracts in October, so keep your eyes peeled.

Motorola ROKR ZN50is a class apart with its mind boggling features like a 3.2 megapixel camera, T-DMB2 digital TV tuner and GPS navigation. The TV tuner of this device, makes it a perfect TV, which can be logged in any time to catch your favourite entertainment shows desired by you.

The phone is a marvel from the Motorola stable and features the touch screen technology for the first time in a phone produced by this company. There is a 3.2-inch 240 x 427 touch screen available in this phone. The phone with its Panorama UI, reminds a person of the Android technology providing capabilities of switching between three screens while making use of the phone.

The users can use all the shortcuts and icons available on these screens for getting great functionality out of the phone. There is also a SRS WOW HD system with changeable EQ settings for allowing the users to have a perfect musical experience with a microSD slot for storing an additional number of songs in the phone.

The triband GSM900/1800/1900 makes it simple to use this phone in a large number of countries. The weight of this phone at 143gms is a slight loophole, ruining its sleek slider look.

Motorola ROKR ZN50. Not as amazing as we are

July 28th, 2009 Martin No comments

Fickle is not a word we would use to describe ourselves. Solid, dependable, intelligent, opinionated and lots of other words too best describe us. Oh, and don’t forget humble and modest.

But fickle is a word that we would use to describe, well, every single other mobile phone blog ever. All of them. Every single last one.

There, glad we got that off our chests.

What’s that? You want reasons? Bah! You’re so demanding. Well, the reason is that for months and months now, people have been bad mouthing Motorola. And, fair enough to be honest. They’re currently running at a massive loss each month, have not released a decent phone for, well, ages (even if this Motorola phones list might suggest otherwise) and, well, that’s enough, really, isn’t it?

But then the Motorola ROKR ZN50 turns up and suddenly everyone thinks that they’ve turned a corner, that a new dawn is on the way, and that any day now they’ll be making money and releasing phone after phone of outstanding quality. Bull dung, we say! No chance! Because even though this phone is better looking that any of theirs for a while, even though it’s a pretty good music player, and even though it does some other great things (that you can read all about in this Motorola ZN50 review), the Motorola ZN50 is not by any stretch of the imagination a company-saver, or even a corner-turner. It’s just alright. And why everyone else out there is getting all hot under the collar about it we’ll never know. But then that’s just us: solid, dependable, intelligent…

Have a little look at the laughable video below for absolute, scientific proof that we are right and everyone else is wrong.
