Nokia 5630 XpressMusic

March 28th, 2009 admin No comments

In an attempt to really give the XpressMusic line a ‘oomph’ factor, Nokia unveiled the earlier ‘leaked’ Nokia 5630 XpressMusic, which is a mere 12mm thick and weighs an unbelievable 83 grams, making it the lightest as well as the slimmest S60 Nokia phone. The 5630 XpressMusic is clearly set to be the successor of the previously popular 5320, which was also targeted mainly at the teenage market.

Taking its position as the successor to the 5320 XpressMusic, the Nokia 5630 XpressMusic features a 3MPIX camera, better ‘Active Standby’ home screen, N – Gage gaming facilities and will also come with a 4GB microSD memory card.

It runs on the S60 platform and positions itself as a phone which is affordable, yet has some great multimedia features. As is the feature of XpressMusic phones, it sports a 3.5mm audio jack, which will enable you to use your own headphones if you prefer to do so, and has dedicated music keys (play/pause, next track and previous track). The phone also has the ‘Say and Play’ feature, which enables you to get the song by saying the name of the track or the artist.

Nokia
went ‘hell-for-leather’ with the connectivity side and gave the 5630 XM Wi-Fi, HSUPA, HSDPA, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, USB (charging also available) and Bluetooth. They also ‘attached’ their own Music Store to the phone. Some countries will also get ‘Come With Music’ as well. The N-Gage support will ensure that you have some superb games at your disposal.

The final feature that should be mentioned is the 3 megapixel camera, which also has autofocus with a LED flash and also has a microSD card slot.

The 5630 XpressMusic is expected to ship somewhere during the 2nd quarter of 2009 and will come with a 4GB memory card.

You can visit the official page to get more details about the phone.

Nokia 6710 Navigator

March 23rd, 2009 admin No comments

One of the many phones that Nokia unveiled during the MWC, the 6710 Navigator, along with the 6720, are the latest additions to the navigation series, which comprises of phones with an exclusive focus on the GPS features.

From what can be seen of the phone, the navigation solution given by the Nokia 6710 Navigator is supposed to be quite impressive and will provide you exactly everything you would come to expect of a dedicated GPS device, along with all the features you’d expect of a normal phone. The solutions involve an upgraded version of the Nokia Maps, which has real time ‘drive and walk’ feature, a large number of maps and hardware parts like the dedicated navigator key, big display useful for viewing outside the house and a touch area which will help you zoom in. All this is meant to make your life much easier. This is facilitated by the fact that the navigation softwares are pre-installed and are ready for use as soon as you purchase the phone.

The integration in recent times of Nokia Maps with Ovi enables you to plan your journey from the comfort of your home on your computer and sync this with your Nokia 6710 Navigator. In addition, Nokia Maps have been upgraded with a number of features such as very sharp pictures, weather service, events content, premium travel and 3D landmarks incorporated for more than 200 cities. It also has a compass which works in sync with Maps and enables the better working of the pedestrian navigation service.

The sales package also has a car-holder, which is a fairly useful item. You could also get yourself the Nokia Speakerphone, which is basically a pair of speakers which enables you to talk handsfree. Quite useful indeed!

Nokia 6720 Classic

March 20th, 2009 admin No comments

The Nokia 6720 Classic is the second navigator phone which was unveiled by Nokia @ the Mobile World Congress 2009 and it seems to be a more ‘high – powered’ navigator solution when compared to the 6710 Navigator, which seems to be down on other features except for the GPS.

The Nokia 6720 Classic can be said to be a upgrade of the 6220 classic, which has tri-band UMTS support and an HSDPA speed of 10Mbps or, in Nokia’s terms, Turbo 3G. From the pictures, you also would’ve noticed the curve at the bottom of the phone which is meant to improve handling of the phone, but I didn’t really feel much of an improvement, actually didn’t really seem to make much of a difference. There are a variety of different colors which are also available for the phone. The plastic body of the phone has a more classy look to it and doesn’t really feel cheap like the 6220 classic.

Other than these, the 6720 Classic is running on S60 3.2, just like the 6220, but, just like all of Nokia’s newer smartphones, it’s been given a facial upgrade in terms of all the icons so that they look very much like the ones on the S60 5th edition touch UI, which is being utilized by the 5800.
The last change that we could find in the Nokia 6720 Navigator was with regard to the battery life. It is more beefy in terms of capacity, having a capacity of 1050 mAh, rather than the 900 of the 6220, which just means that the battery will last longer and you will be able to talk for more time.

The 6720 is set to be released in the second quarter of 2009 at a price of 245 euros before any taxes.
